Experience & Qualifications

Rick Sommer, Chairman of CDI Global, is based in Boca Raton, Florida.

Rick holds a B.S. and M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University. He has worked with CDI for the past 25 years, including 15 years as the CEO of the firm. Prior to joining CDI, Rick was an executive with Exxon Chemical Company and also CEA, a NYSE energy and environmental control company. He concentrates on acquisitions and divestitures in chemicals, pulp, paper and packaging, machinery and equipment, energy and environmental. Clients have included: ABB, BASF, BP, Exxon, GE, International Paper, Kone, Lubrizol, Sandvik, Solvay, and Thales.

Rick has served as U.S. delegate to the Coal Industry Advisory Board of the International Energy Agency in Paris, as Arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association, and as a member of the Executive Advisory Committee for the Columbia University Graduate School of Business Administration. He currently serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the University of North Carolina Asheville and as director of several companies. Rick’s nationality is American.
