Experience & Qualifications

Ali is specialized in mid-cap M&A deals, buy-side and sell-side, domestic and cross-border, servicing investment funds (PE & VC), strategic investors and family offices.

His primary skills are financial strategy and structuring, business development, VC and PE investments (debt and equity).

In 2017, he created Athena Africa Partners (AAP), a Casablanca and Paris-based boutique M&A advisory firm operating in Europe and francophone Africa (+Ghana) and has been involved in 20+ deals in the following sectors: Pharma, Media/Communication, Financial Services (Banking, FinTech and Financial Information), Mobility, Renewable & Conventional Energy, Automotive Distribution, FMCG, Agriculture/AgroTech, Health/HealthTech and Web/Tech/IT. APP now works in partnership with CDI Global.

Prior to this, Ali had a 26-year international business career in France, USA, UK, Asia, Morocco and Ghana as entrepreneur, advisor, senior manager and investor with an extensive professional network in Morocco, Western Africa, the Middle-East and Europe.

Ali is an independent board member of Bank of Africa Ghana and SIX MENA and holds an IT & Telecom engineering degree from ENSEEIHT (Toulouse, France, 1991), and an executive MBA degree from UCSD San Diego (2004). He is fully tri-lingual (English, French and Arabic) and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
