Experience & Qualifications

Jim holds a B.A degree from Harvard College (Social Studies) and M.A. and M.Phil degrees from Yale University (Economics). He joined CDI Global in 2019. Jim is a co-founder of Headsail Ventures, an advisory firm focused on renewable energy and decarbonization strategies. Prior to this Jim was the head of the North American office of Tata Sons, the holding company of the $100 billion Indian group. He was responsible for business development (including M&A), government relations, media relations and sustainability in the North American geography.

Jim has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. He began his career at the New York Stock Exchange, working in research and then notably building the international listing business in Asia and moving to Japan to open the exchange’s first office in Asia. He has also worked at Galileo Global Advisors, a boutique cross-border investment banking firm, originating and executing capital-raising, advisory and M&A mandates. And he has had broad experience in the Indian capital markets as well, as head of market development for the BSE (formerly the Bombay Stock Exchange), working on several transformational acquisitions and cross-border joint ventures and on the launch of derivatives trading.
